The Art of Reinvention

Reinvention isn’t an escape it’s a return.

We’re taught that change is hard. That becoming someone new means losing the version of you that survived the storm. But what if I told you that transformation is your natural state?

Truth is, you can become anything you truly desire.
You can be anywhere. Have anything.
The only thing in the way… is the outdated programming installed in your mind.

It’s not your fault
That fear? That hesitation?
That’s not your truth—it’s your trauma’s voice.

But here’s the shift:
Change becomes easy once you realize you’re the one holding the key. You don’t need permission to evolve. You just need to shed.

Shed, Stretch, and Expand

Think of a snake.
It sheds its skin when it becomes too tight, too outdated for the body it’s growing into.
It gets uncomfortable. It itches. But it doesn’t hold on. It lets go. Because that’s nature.

Think of a crab or lobster.
When their shell no longer fits, they leave it behind completely exposed. Vulnerable. Easy prey.
But here’s the real truth:
That’s when they’re actually at their strongest—because they chose growth over safety.

Reinvention is messy. It’s uncomfortable.
It’ll make you want to hide. But hiding doesn’t make you weak it makes you wise enough to know when to protect your peace while becoming.

And when you choose to shed a former version of yourself? Do it with gratitude.

Hair has always been symbolic for me. It’s never just been hair it’s been an embodiment of where I was in life.

I’ve had black hair during my most chaotic times when I was absorbing everyone’s energy, unsure of my power, trying to stay hidden.

Then came the red.
Red was fire.
She was the version of me that said, “I’m here. I want passion. I want more.”
But red still had rage. Still carried pain. She was reclaiming but still reacting.

And now?
I chose dark chocolate brown.
A blend of depth and warmth.
It’s mature. Grounded.
A version of me that’s not trying to be seen… but cannot be ignored.
She’s not performing. She’s just being.

This color is me saying,
“I’m no longer her… but I honor her.
And I’m not quite who I’m becoming…
But damn it, I’m proud of this version right now.”

Reinvention doesn’t always come with fireworks.
Sometimes it’s quiet.
Sometimes it’s a haircut.
Sometimes it’s deleting a number.
Sometimes it’s simply choosing yourself again.

  • What version of you are you shedding right now?
  • What lesson did she teach you?
  • And what would you say to her before you let her go?
